Isfahan, the historic city in Iran, is a great example of a city that has experienced the ebb and flow of history. Its story is filled with both peaks and valleys; from being pillaged and destroyed by the Mongols and Timur to being the Safavid capital under Shah Abbas the Great when it was considered to be "half of the world”.
