An issue on the agenda at this week’s UN General Assembly has been the alleged abuse by peacekeepers.
There have been at least 2,000 cases of sexual abuse or exploitation by UN peacekeepers over the last 12 years, according to recent investigations by the Associated Press.
Many of the cases may have been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but there are also other examples of abuse by UN peacekeepers across the world, and advocacy groups say not enough is being done to address the issue.
