Every brake van or cab ride I've ever been on has shaken me to pieces, but I thought this would be unusual and not a lot extra to pay beyond the cost of the diesel gala ticket. So I got onto the brake van (which was part of a longer demonstration goods train) along with several other people at Bury, and I've edited what I filmed down to this six-minute video.
Firstly we're heading through the short 80 yard tunnel at Bury out towards Burrs Country Park, past Whistler D345 on the left and into heavy drizzle! At least when we got to the first of the longer tunnels between there and Summerseat (this is Nuttall tunnel, and the second is known as Brooksbottom) it couldn't reach us anymore, and "Ernest" made a hell of a racket with the sound echoing off the tunnels' walls.
In the third clip we're arriving in to Ramsbottom, and in the last your intrepid videographer got to the footbridge before D9531 swept past and into sidings awaiting more customers for the next journey!
