We pay a lot of money for these cameras and lenses that we use to create our images and follow our passion, so it's no wonder some of you are concerned about different features on a camera and whether or not they are safe to use or if they might cause damage to your camera gear.
This is exactly what slipbyu2 was wondering with this question:
"My question is about night time photography and using ''Bulb Mode''?
I went out last night and shot the stars for the first time. I was reading up a little more on it today and read, where people were using bulb mode to get exposures for LONGER then 30 sec. I wanted to know if holding the shutter open for 10min and longer periods caused any wear or strain on your shutter, lens or camera?? Thanks Again for all the helpful info."
The short answer is that shooting in bulb mode will NOT hurt your camera, lenses, or other camera gear, however there are things to be aware of when shooting bulb mode, such as sensor heat during long exposures, which I discuss in the video!
