The second section of the Le Puy Way, the Via Podiensis, is probably one of the most spectacular in terms of scenery and historic towns visited along the way. Pilgrims on this section of the Le Puy Camino route in France start their journey from the town of Aumont-Aubrac, gateway to the peaceful tracks of the wild and fascinating Aubrac Plateau.
After the rugged landscapes of Aubrac, pilgrims reach the magnificent Lot Valley where you will feel like you are stepping back in time in spectacular medieval towns such as Saint Come d’Olt, Espalion and Estaing. The trail takes you all the way to Conques, the most beautiful of them all. Perched on a hillside and surrounded by lush mountains and forests, Conques is a magical little village to finish your Camino journey. Its Abbey dedicated to Sainte Foy has been an important pilgrimage destination since the 9th century.
The Le Puy Camino route in France is marked as a GR trail with red and white stripes; as well as the scallop shells and yellow Camino arrows.
