Unrestored 1974 CB550 -- video of cold start ---
This is a reportedly unrestored example which has been displayed in the seller’s Georgia motorcycle museum since being purchased from another collector 10 years ago. Power is from an overhead-cam 544cc inline-four paired with a five-speed transmission, and replacement parts include the battery, tires, and new old-stock exhaust system. Approximately 50 of the bike’s 5k indicated miles have been added under current ownership. This CB550 is sold with a manual, a tool kit, and a Georgia title in the seller’s name.
The fuel tank and side covers are finished in Boss Maroon Metallic and retain factory-style decals and striping. The seller believes the fuel tank has been re-finished, and the condition of the chrome trim and seat cover is shown up close in the gallery below. The exhaust is said to have been replaced with a new old-stock system sourced from American Honda.
Braking is provided by a single disc in front and a drum on the rear wheel. The fork lowers feature cast-in tabs to attach a second caliper and are noted to show oxidation on their factory coating. Chrome wire-spoke wheels wear replacement tires.
Instrumentation consists of a 130-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 9,250-rpm redline, and a five-digit odometer showing just under 5k miles. Indicator lights are provided for the turn signals, oil pressure, neutral, and high beam.
The 544cc SOHC inline-four is fed by four 22mm Keihin carburetors and produced 50 horsepower in stock form. A five-speed transmission transfers power to the rear wheel via chain drive. The seller reports that a general inspection was performed when the bike was first purchased, and two oil changes have been carried out since.
