This video shows the assembly and components of a M1941 tent stove from WW2 (also Korea, Vietnam, cold war, etc.). The stove shown is in a wood or coal burning configuration. Conversion kits are available to provide for burning oil as well.
The pot belly stove itself is modular, and it comes in three pieces: the bottom, the wood grate, and the top. 4 inch stove pipe sections are connected together in the field to direct the smoke out of your tent. Following Army technical manual TM 10-4500-200-13, the first section of stove pipe above the stove has a damper installed inside it which can be regulated to control temperature and airflow through the chimney. Next, a spark arrester is attached, and then the other sections of pipe including elbows if needed for your tent configuration. Use either a round hole tent shield to protect your tent's canvas vertical wall or an elliptical hole tent shield to protect your tent's canvas roof where the pipe passes through. Capping the top of the stove pipe is a flue cap with guy lines to keep the chimney stable.
