The Swedish support to the transitional justice system and in particular to the Truth Commission has been crucial for the participation of the victims of the conflict in Colombia as well as for those living in exile. The Truth Commission's final report draws attention to the factors that led to the long-standing conflict in Colombia and systematic violations of human rights. It is an important tool for reparation and reconciliation and it represents the
beginning of a new phase in peacebuilding.

Sweden's development cooperation enables the participation of vulnerable groups and contributes to strengthening civil society organizations to pursue a more progressive and inclusive agenda in their human rights and peacebuilding. Together with the follow up of the final report's recommendations, this improves the conditions for sustainable
peace in the country.
