This presentation will survey current developments in US and Russian nuclear weapons, summarize key lessons learned from the US-Russian nuclear arms control experience, explain contrasts in US and Russian nuclear arms control agendas, and address contemporary challenges faced by the Biden administration in negotiating new nuclear arms control treaties with Russia.
Dr. Kerry M. Kartchner is a retired US Department of State employee with a career of service in arms control and nuclear nonproliferation assignments. He has published two edited volumes on strategic culture and two volumes on the ethics of war and peace.
