The Showtime Kicker & UFC Champion
Anthony “Showtime” Pettis is a former WEC lightweight champion and former UFC lightweight champion who fought some of the best UFC fighters ever.
Pettis entered the WEC in 2009 and finished Mike Campbell via triangle choke.
Later that year he suffered his first MMA loss via split decision.
But Pettis then went on a tear, finishing all 3 of his next opponents to earn a title shot to Benson Henderson, where Pettis pulled off his showtime kick, and won a decision to become the WEC lightweight champion.
Afterwards, the UFC merged with the WEC and Pettis debuted in 2011, and lost a decision to Clay Guida.
But once again, Showtime rebounded with another tear, beating Jeremy stephens, and finishing Joe Lauzon, Donald Cerrone, and Benson Henderson to become the UFC lightweight world champion in 2013.
And Pettis defended his championship by submitting Gilbert Melendez.
With only 2 losses and finishing top guys, Pettis was the best in the world, but his title reign was derailed by Rafale Dos Anjos.
And Pettis never really recovered, going 6-8 post-championship, but he’ll always be remembered as
