Rod Wallace scored an 86th minute winning goal just minutes after Jorg Albertz had missed the chance to win the match from the penalty spot. Johan Mjallby conceded the penalty when he pulled Neil McCann back as he raced into the box but incredibly was only shown a yellow card for his professional foul. Jonathon Gould saved the shot but could do nothing when Wallace raced round him to score after a clever pass from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
In a match dominated by Celtic, it was 'Der Goalie' Stefan Klos that was the hero for Rangers, making a number of saves, the most impressive of which coming against Mark Viduka and Mark Burchill. Celtic thought they had scored midway through the second half, but thankfully the linesman spotted Viduka's cheating arm as he controlled the ball.
