The Barberini Exultet Roll, kept at the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, with the shelfmark Barb. lat. 592, is a surviving fragment (5 leaves) of a parchment scroll. It contains liturgical songs and neumes used at the Easter vigil.
Commissioned by Abbot Desiderius and created in the Abbey of Montecassino (Italy) around ca. 1087, it displays 10 devotional scenes. The text in Beneventan Script is decorated with historiated initials and gold frames.
Italian commentaries in gothic script was added later, during the 13th Century.
