Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday slammed the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy and said that it was "doomed to fail."
He also said that it was a strategy to split sides and destroy peace.
His comments follow the South Korea-U.S. joint statement issued on Saturday.
Although the statement didn't mention China directly, it did mention the "Taiwan Strait" and "human rights."
It said President Yoon Suk-yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden are both committed to protecting peace and stability in the South China Sea, including the Taiwan Strait.
The joint statement also said that the two leaders share mutual concerns about human rights issues in the Indo-Pacific, including Myanmar's military coup, and will work to promote human rights.
