Thanks for checking out my new song! I wrote and arranged this one afternoon and then recorded it a couple months later. The song is intended for my quartet "Rendezvous" to sing because I thought it would be fun to be ridiculously silly on stage. The idea was to transition between a bunch of different moods and feelings without using lyrics to portray the emotion.
I left 4x 8 bar sections open for solos to be interpreted by the quartet. When I recorded the parts I decided to use some little jokes about the vocal jazz world to appeal to certain musicians I know.
1. A vocalese to "Blues for Alice" (because I think vocaleses are generally pretty terrible)
2. The "lick" (search it on YouTube if you don't understand)
3. The unfortunate fact that bass singers are usually stuck singing the lowest notes and often times don't even get to sing lyrics.
4. It's satisfying when you're soloing to know exactly what degree of a scale/chord you're singing. Well satisfying for me at least..
