The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed the appeals filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), challenging President Bola Tinubu's victory in the February 25 presidential election.

In its verdict, the Supreme Court upheld the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, affirming Tinubu's legitimacy as the elected President of Nigeria. The seven-judge panel ruled that the opposition appeals, which included claims of fraud, electoral law violations, and Tinubu's eligibility, lacked merit.

The court also stated that the failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to electronically transmit the 2023 presidential election result did not impact the result won by Bola Tinubu. Following the court's decision, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu called on all Nigerians to work together to build a great nation.

In a statement, Tinubu expressed his commitment to welcoming the contributions of all Nigerians to enhance the country's collective progress and improve the living conditions of its citizens. He emphasised that the court's ruling had reinvigorated his dedication to serve all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations, ethnicities, or religions, with respect and honour.
