4405 running on DC sound with 6M42 ballast train, the riveted ballast wagons are IDR models, the welded steel version is a kit from AR kit co (no longer available except 2nd hand on e-bay) the train is restricted to a maximum speed of 60kph due to plain bearing bogies on the 2nd ballast wagon.
The riveted versions were first built in Australia in 1928 (with the first wagon BBW W1 being condemned in May 1966), they lasted in service till 1997 & were only withdrawn due to OH&S issues, this is just another example of first class Australian Manufacturing which recent Modern day Government’s have shut down due to placing orders for rolling stock overseas.
