Head Taunsa Barrage (ہیڈ تونسہ ،تونسہ بیراج) is a barrage on the river Indus near Kot addu . It is situated about 16 Km away from Kot addu city. Taunsa barrae is used for irrigation through canals and controlling water level in case of flood in the Indus river. Head Taunsa was constructed in 1958. This barrage has capacity of irrigating 2.351 million acres (951,400 hectares) of land besides diverting water flows from Sindh River( دریائے سندھ) to the Chenab River through Taunsa-Panjnad Link Canal (TP Link Canal).
Taunsa barrage has also been a picnic point for families.
