For equity advocates, reconciling the urgent need for racial and economic justice and the slow-paced reality of social and political change can be a difficult task. This is why it is so essential that the equity movement mobilizes a cadre of bold, passionate advocates who are not only racially diverse, but also multigenerational. During this plenary session, speakers will share their reflections on the potential of a multiracial, multigenerational equity movement: What lessons can young racial and economic justice activists learn from the generations of organizers in workers’ rights, housing, and civil rights who came before them? How can we foster mentorship and build coalitions that cross racial and generational boundaries?
Speakers:
Geoffrey Canada, Mary Kay Henry, Stewart Kwoh, DeRay McKesson, Carmen Perez, Linda Sansour, Nick Tilsen
