A demonstration using the CHAdeMO DC charge port on a Nissan Leaf with a 24kWh battery pack.

Using the DC charge port, a typical recharge to 80% takes around 25-30 minutes depending on battery temperature and state of charge. Power usage can be anywhere between 43-50kW on average. The rapid charger being shown here is a DBT Universal Quick Charger featuring CHAdeMO DC, CCS DC and AC connectors.

Other charging methods are also available on a Nissan Leaf by using the AC charge port which has a Type 1 connector. The slowest method is a trickle charge which uses an EVSE to connect domestic household 3-pin BS1363 socket, which charges at around 10A.

Fast charging require a dedicated home charging unit which, depending on model and vehicle specification, operates at 16A or 32A.
