The Vaganova arabesques are quite simple.
First arabesque is essentially a first and second position arm in Effacé extended to allongé. The head is kept profile looking over the arm.
Second arabesque the downstage arm is extended in allongé to the front, the head looks over the downstage arm towards the audience.
Third arabesque is done en croisé with the upstage arm extended to the downstage corner.
Fourth arabesque is the hardest arabesque to develop and can be helped by working on the fourth Vaganova port de bras. The rotation must come from the thoracic spine and the upstage arm must not lift higher than the downstage arm.
