Captain Janet H. Days ’99 is the first Black woman to serve as commanding officer of Naval Station Norfolk. She credits the education she received at Old Dominion University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, with giving her the tools necessary to advance her career and represent the United States Navy.
