It is always exciting to welcome a brand new airline to Montreal; even in less than ideal weather conditions. Arajet touched down for the first time in Montreal today on a very wet runway; and then departed 90 minutes later on a strong crosswind.
Arajet is a ultra low cost carrier and flag carrier of the Dominican Republic! Arajet begun in 2014 as Dominican Wings; a small charter airline but in 2021 the airline re-branded and transitioned into a low cost carrier.
The airline has a small fleet of 7 737 MAX 8 (5 on order), as well as 20
737 MAX 200 on order. Arajet's 737 MAX 8 has 8 seats in Premium Economy and 177 in economy for a total of 185 seats.
This is the inaugural flight of Arajet to Montreal; the airport has seen Dominican Wings in the past operating for Cubana. The airline will be operating here 4x weekly year round; 2 weekly morning flights and 2 weekly afternoon flights on board the 737 MAX.
Despite Arajet being a very small carrier; the airline has large expansion plans. Arajet business is to connect passengers through its main hub in Santo Domingo with the rest of the Americas. Arajet currently has 2 Canadian destinations; Toronto and Montreal.
