The event kick-starte with the CM offering prayers to the Bay of Bengal, on the shores of which this port will be built.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasized the importance of this port and how this project will greatly benefit the increasing maritime trade and, ultimately, the state. We are delighted to be executing this project for the AP government.
This port has an annual capacity of 35.12 million metric tonnes. Initially, four berths will be set up to handle imports and exports. Once ready, this port will provide employment directly and indirectly to nearly 25,000 people and emerge as the gateway to Southeast Asia.
MEIL is constructing critical onshore and offshore facilities along with four berths, breakwater, and dredging. In addition, our teams are gearing up to create road infrastructure of 3.90 km and rail- 6.7 km connectivity from the port. This port will cater to exports of fertilisers, coal, cooking oil, containers, agricultural products, cement, granite, cement clinker, and iron ore from districts of Guntur, Krishna, NTR, East and West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh and in Telangana from Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nalgonda, and Warangal districts.
Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) is a major infrastructure company headquartered in Hyderabad, India. The company was established in 1989 as a small fabrication unit. In due course of time, the unit made a name for itself. We are fired by the zeal to equip the country with an engineering and infrastructure foundation that can hold up its pillars for generations to come.
