Personnel from RAAF Base Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains have assisted the Zig Zag Railway with recovery efforts following the Bush Fires which tore through the Blue Mountains on 17 October 2013. Many of the volunteers from RAAF Base Glenbrook were themselves affected by bushfires in the Blue Mountains in early October. The Zig Zag Railway line was part of the Main Western Line in NSW from 1869 until 1910, and operated as a heritage railway from 1975 until 2012.
