Apsara Reddy | Congress
Activist and former journalist Apsara Reddy made history by becoming the first transwoman to become an office-bearer of a national Indian political party. She was appointed National General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress in Indian National Congress. Hailing from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, Reddy studied investigative journalism (broadcast) in Australia and worked in several media organizations in London before taking up social activism against child rape as well as voicing for LGBTQ+ rights and also talked about the process of transitioning.
