Bunaken National Park in North Sulawesi - Indonesia is a safe haven for turtles. They love the hug drop offs, for which Bunaken is famous for. They sleep & rest on the countless ledges and in the many crevices these walls have. There are mainly 2 species found within the national park: the green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata). Both are listed as endangered but are very abundant within the national park. Especially on all dive sites around Bunaken Island and specifically on al 3 Lekuan dive sites. It is not uncommon to encounter more then 30 different individuals in 1 dive.
