My humble attempt to revive the work of the Sufi poet and mystic Mian Muhammad Bakhsh (May Allah have mercy on his soul).

Mian Saab is widely regarded as the ‘Rumi of Kashmir’ for his purified spiritual views in the form of poetry promoting peace, tolerance, cosmic fraternity and divine love.

Born in 1830, Mian Saab was raised in a religious environment and from a very young age he had a passion for reciting poetry in particular by the mystic Mawlana Jami from Khorasan, whose Persian poetry would leave the listeners in a state of spiritual intoxication. Mian Saab studied religious sciences, especially the science of Hadith and wrote many books of poetry through out his life. He sadly left this temporary world in 1907 on the 7th of Dhul Hijja at the age of 77, he devoted his entire life to travel, prayer and spirituality.

I recently visited the final resting place of Mian Saab in Khari Sharif, Azad Kashmir. It was a very spiritual and humbling journey and I learnt so much about his life, his works and his dedication to writing such powerful spiritual thoughts in versified form which is admired by millions around the world.

Join me in celebrating and promoting our rich poetic heritage to our current and future generations. Let them aspire to continue the legacy of such eminent poets who taught us the lesson of mutual harmony and brotherhood of mankind.
