At a viewer's request, here is a piece by the Latvian composer Ādolfs Skulte (1909-2000) who was actually born in Kyiv, Ukraine of a Latvian father and Italian mother. He first studied engineering, but later turned to music, and studied at the Latvian state conservatory in Riga, where he later taught. He composed in many genres: operas and ballets, orchestral, chamber and vocal works He also wrote scores for several Latvian films. This piece was either written in 1948 or 1959 (depending on which online worklist you consult), and is really a neo-baroque, but contemporary-sounding adagio. It is a piece that could become very popular internationally if it were better-known.
