TVB actor Yu Chi-ming, who's best known for playing Jiang Ziya in the classic 2001 drama Gods of Honour, has passed away at age 78.
Chi-ming's son Tian You confirmed the news on the Instagram account he had set up for the actor, writing: "Dad, rest in peace."Earlier this year, Chi-ming was admitted to the hospital after suffering a stroke that left the left side of his body temporarily paralysed.In October, Tian You shared a picture of Chi-ming on his Instagram.
Though it could be seen that Chi-ming had lost quite a bit of weight, he still appeared healthy and alert.
Shortly after, Tian You revealed that his father was in the hospital again as he had too much phlegm in his throat. There were also worries that he might get pneumonia.
On Nov 6, reports claimed that Chi-ming’s condition had deteriorated badly.Chi-ming is survived by his wife Fung So Wan, his two sons and a daughter.
Chi-ming was a Hong Kong entertainment news writer before he joined a singing competition in 1968.
After emerging first, he became a bar singer and would perform around the Southeast Asia. He then joined TVB after appearing in variety show Enjoy Yourself Tonight in 1976. He would go on to star in many TVB dramas, including 1998's Journey to the West.
