Sounds easy enough; and is quite easy to learn, but really hard to master.
The best thing is TWS: such an an locked enemy's RWR won't get notified (so he might not engage his ECM) and you can lock onto several targets at once.
Also: if you know the direction to the enemy - from an AWACS or EWS - then you get faster and more accurate radar updates if you switch to a narrower beam; which the TWS also does.
And if you know that the enemy is coming AT you, then use "high" PRF; if he's flying away or perpendicular, t hen use "medium".
