Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Dutton-Lainson AC powered StrongArm Electric Winch, has a 1,200 pound load capacity. Now, this winch is a nice compact size for use in tight spaces, and this electric winch is perfect for indoor or fixed applications. Wanna zoom in up close here, so we can talk about some features. This winch will work anywhere you can access AC power, and includes a nice 3-position switch right here, which right now in the middle, it's in the off position. If you push it this way, it'll be in, and if you push it down and it will be out, so the cable go in, cable go out, and when it's in the middle, it's in the off position.
And it has this spring-loaded clutch lever right here, this spring-loaded clutch lever is for releasing your load without the power, provides a nice, smooth load control from the locked or the freewheel position. Right now, with the points pointing this way, right up here, you'll see it says freewheel, so it's in the freewheel position. And once it's in the freewheel position, that means you can pull out as much cable as you need, and then if you flip it, it'll go into the engage gear or locked position, and then the cable won't be able to move, you'll have to use the power to move it. And if you noticed, what's nice is when it's in the freewheel position, when you go to remove it, you can see it's spring-loaded, it'll automatically pop into the locked position when it's released. It does use a mechanical friction brake.
This is 120 volt AC operation, you can see it includes this 10 foot long three-wire grounded power cord. Now, the cable on this, if we pull some of the cable out just to show you it's a high strength 7 strand 19 gauge galvanized aircraft cable. On the end of it, you can see here is this nice safety hook with the keeper on it that allows you to when you hook it on to wherever you're hooking it to, that keeper will keep it from coming detached. The cable dimension is a 3/16 diameter by 20 foot long cable. Now, if you want, you can remove the wire cable and swap it out for a two inch wide strap also.
Now, it also comes, you can see here, with this nice emergency crank handle that is included, and you would use this on event of a power failure. So if you lose power and you still needed to crank your winch, what you'll do is go onto this side, pop out this little plug right here, and that'll allow you to line up your crank handle, just like that, and then you're able to crank your winch whichever way you need to go. And then once your power comes back on, just remove your handle, put your plug back in there, and you're ready to go. They do use heat-treated gears on the inside, provide a nice, smoother, quieter ride, greater strength. The gear ratio on this winch is 189 to 1.
They also use precision needle bearings in the high-load areas, which will creating low friction, promote longer life. The base on this, I'll just turn it a little bit, so you can see the very bottom here. This is a die-form base, which can be adapted for quick mounting applications, and the case on it is a nice high impact weather resistant case, provides excellent protection for any of the internal components. It is a lot safer than the open-reel models. If you noticed on the front right here, there's a nice brushed stainless steel front plate for superior rust resistance. Now, this part is made in the USA, it is CSA and OSHA certified. Few specs on this, the load capacity, again, we mentioned is 1,200 pounds, and that capacity is based on third layer of cable on the drum and a continuous 10 foot pole. The current draw on this is six amps at 120 volts. Now, electric winches should be used intermittently, because the maximum continuous run time should be only about four minutes on electric winch. The load speed on this, the feet per minute, if it's a no load full reel, 35 feet per minute, a full load full reel, 16 feet per minute. Last thing I wanna do is just give you some dimensions on this to let you know the size of it. We're gonna zoom back in. And if we do the length from the very back here to the very front, you can see if I put my tape measure on it, that's gonna be right at about 11 inches. Total length, the width on it. Now, when I do the width, I am gonna do all the way with this handle, measuring including that handle, so you're gonna be right at about eight inches wide, and as I mentioned, it includes that handle. And the last portion, we're gonna measure the he
