GREECE has declared a state of emergency after two major wildfires burnt out of control either side of Athens.
At least 50 people have been killed so far and more than 100 have been injured, although the death toll is expected to rise
Authorities have been battling to bring the fires under control and the government has asked other European countries for help supplying helicopters and additional firefighters.
