February 1990 saw the arrival to British Airways of the first of the new Boeing 767 fleet, starting with G-BNWA. The arrival also heralded the beginning of an innovative new agreement for Cabin Crew, allowing them more influence over their choice of routes to bid, as the 767 operated on both short and long haul routes - a precursor to the later B777 Mixed Fleet.
The 767 fleet has gradually been retired over the last 10 years so that now (summer 2018) there are just 7 left, G-BNWA B X and Z and G BZHA to C, mainly operating routes to Stockholm, Amsterdam, Athens, Frankfurt, Rome and Edinburgh.
Here is G BNWA - the oldest of the fleet at 28 years, originally (and in light of Brexit, perhaps ironically) named "City of Brussels" operating the BA 780 to Stockholm on Saturday 7th July 2018, departing from Heathrow's Runway 27R. She gives a good account of herself on the take off run, producing that lovely distinctive Rolls Royce engine sound, which too soon will be a memory only as these lovely aircraft will be retired - probably in the winter of this year.
I will be filming these some more over the next few months before they are consigned to history.
POST SCRIPT. since filming this G-BNWA has now been retired - operating the last flight on 14th July arriving as the BA 349 from Nice. I am very glad I caught this aircraft in her last week of active service.
