The test of the new national emergency alert system failed to sound on all phones this afternoon, and some alerts arrived late.
Many people across the country reported that they had not received an alarm at 3pm, when a loud blast lasting for 10 seconds was expected to sound.
Tom Prentki in Bournemouth said: "Nothing happened here at Bournemouth. Mine didn't even go off!"
Many individuals on the Three mobile network also reported that they had not received the test.
The system is designed to warn the public if there is a danger to life nearby. Once established, the system is intended to be used in life-threatening situations including flooding and wildfires.
