Malone Colleges Evan Gaynor challenges Tiffin Universitys Jeremy Lee in the 2008 Leu Classic held on Siena Heightss indoor track in Adrian, Michigan. Born five years ago as a brain child of Jeff Taylor, the two rivals high school coach, this one mile race has been run at Siena Heights during Christmas break ever since. Except for 2006 when Siena Heights Robert Deo won with a record setting 4:24, the two Delta HS graduates have dominated the Leu Classic. Gaynor, an All-American placing 3rd overall at the 2008 Christian Nationals, won the Leu Classic title in 2004 and 2005. Lee, a NCAA Division II All-American placing 3rd in 2008 Outdoor Nationals in the 1500 meter, won the Leu Classic last year, in 2007. Add to this friendly rivalry, a mix of other good runners including Coach Taylor and runners from Siena Heights, and the Leu Classic 2008 result is anyones guess. Video tape by Eric N. Lutton.
