Mary discovers that her marriage contract has a secret clause stating that if she dies without an heir, Scotland will be given to France. Mary and Francis secretly meet Scottish Lord MacKenzie to tell him of the contract so he can return to Scotland and protest. Catherine learns of Mary's actions and has all the Scots who know of the contract killed.
