Traveling eastbound on Virginia Primary State Route 55 from the West Virginia line to northbound on I-81.
This portion of Route 55 was also signed in 2003 as the temporary alignment for Virginia's portion of US Route 48. US Route 48 goes hand-in-hand with Appalachian Development Corridor H, so when VDOT constructs their portion of Corridor H, that highway will receive the US-48 signage, and this portion of Route 55 will be decommissioned as US-48 and will return to its sole Route 55 signage.
Although this road was quiet when filmed (having been filmed in late May), this portion of Route 55 is starting to see an uptick in traffic as more commuters and trucks use West Virginia's Corridor H; a result of West Virginia progressively opening more segments of the incomplete highway. This may result in VDOT being required to build their portion of Corridor H sooner than later to prevent Route 55 from reaching a failing level-of-service, despite their reluctance to do so.
