Dr. Jon Barrett: “So a high-risk pregnancy is a pregnancy in which there is a higher chance of an adverse outcome, or a bad outcome, for either the mother or the baby. And that can be the result of a condition the mother has, a medical condition, or it can be a result of a complication the baby has, one of which would be for example a twin pregnancy is associated with a higher risk of adverse outcomes than a singleton, so that would be an example of a high-risk pregnancy.”
