I met Lars Kern, Porsche factory driver and GT2 RS MR record holder last year, when he coached me on the Nordschleife to improve myself, learn and understand the GT2 RS, and being able to manage this amount of power fast on the Nürburgring.
We since stayed connected and we met again yesterday during Manthey track day.
He was offering customers fast laps to experience a professional driver lap.
I recognized him when we started the lap, but he did not. And so we sent it during a complete lap, that we achieved in 6.52 btg with a Huge slow down that last around 30 secondes at 50% pushing - (5.05 min to 5.38 min)
That BTG lap would have been insane but not done, not affirmed.
Anyway, this experience, as a student of him, to follow him in normal conditions, me with more fresh tires + alone in the car, but him being a professional, was really amazing.
Of course, I did not originally pointed it, but this is for fun, he is in an other league. We shared a good lap, me trying to drive fast, him just driving with rhythm. He told me he was proud of my development and that made my day. That’s all. I’m well aware I’m a simple amateur who drive for fun and emotions. He’s a talented professional who he is much faster.
We laughed after the lap because we were both sweating like hell... Those fantastic moments of sharing passion between amateur and professional drivers, on the same lap, in the same car, it is so unique! And that's why i love motorsport, and especially the Nordschleife now.
Thank you for your help Lars, and i hope you guys will enjoy the lap despite the medium quality and the big slow down!
