Capturing my Abarth 595 Gran Turismo 2016 Exhaust Sound on a GoPro HERO8 Black from a cold start with revs and blips. This is the standard exhaust system, nothing aftermarket, and I’m honestly surprised at just how good it sounds. It gives a decent sporty noise from inside the car but nothing too loud, almost a bit tame – you know it’s sporty but nothing OTT, guess that's the sound deadening working. Yet out back at the business end there’s all kinds of crackles, gurgles and deep bass-type noises happening. For a 1.4 T-Jet with approx. 180bhp, this sounds like a wicked little car when you're behind it – even with this stock exhaust, and that’s me comparing it to my old B7 RS4 with pretty much straight pipes (which tbf was just anti-socially loud..!). Obviously two very different-engined cars, but the fact this little Abarth can still put a smile on my face watching/listening to this video speaks volumes really.
What do you all think of the sound? Does yours make a similar noise with a standard exhaust system? Do you really need an expensive akrapovic or scorpion system when the OEM exhaust already sounds this good?
I’ve been meaning to do this video for quite some time, and now I’ve finally got around to buying a new GoPro what better excuse than to stick it down by the pipes of the Abarth and do a short exhaust clip. Hope you enjoy.
