Since the beginning of war in Ukraine, naZi ruZZian authorities have somewhat looked back at long-distance AM broadcasting, both as a direct information weapon against Ukraine and a tentative alternative to satellite & online means, which were largely blocked in the EU.
So far, however, the latter goal was only being realised very intermittently, with sporadic tests from Kaliningrad --- not, Königsberg region on 1143 or 549 kHz or, on one occasion, on 1089 kHz from near Caucasus. The high-power Pridnestrovye relay continues with 24/7 broadcasting on 999 and 1413 (veZti FM) kHz.
October 16th, 2023 saw another activation of radio roZZii on 549 kHz from Bolshakovo, this time at high power of 600kW, and prolonged as the transmission was reported as continuous, including nighttime, for several days on.
It is said the tests use a combination of a transmitter unit formerly used on 1215 kHz, capable of running as much as 1200 kW, and an antenna that used to be used on 171 kHz. Here in NE Poland, I remember having listened to Radio Rossii on 171 for hours with near-local quality and rather archaic jingle package (bells @ TOH!).
This reception, made at 07:40 UTC Friday October 20th, 2023, shows that the installation at Bolshakovo is doing well on mediumwave too. I was able to get good reception with not a lot noise even barefoot - with just an internal ferrite antenna of my XHDATA D-808. And now, obviously, this naZi signal is my strongest MW station - in fact, none of those still on air is normally listenable without either an external antenna nor a residual skywave - and shown in the video on my 2nd best signal, 540 Kossuth Radio.
UPDATE: radio roZZii was off on 549 kHz at 10:03 UTC recheck.
Still, I really hope this signal will NOT become permanent - I don't want to see another frequency wasted by outrageous, lieful, deadly propaganda blocking anything else!
