A late May visit to Pulla/Slievegrine/Baile an tSléibhe burial ground. Situated adjacent to the N25 with the constant hum of traffic in the background. Opened in November 1847 the site measures just under 1 hectare (2.5 acres) in area. It is hard to make out the Famine graves, we think there are trench graves and maybe a pit grave in the NW corner. This coming Summer (2021), thanks to a grant from the RIA Archaeology Research Grants we aim to test the use of high resolution drone surveys and LIDAR technology to see can we identify grave locations in Baile an tSléibhe. Anybody with information is asked to email john(at)historicgraves.com.
