This is the actual piece from Winter NAMM 2020 that Lowden chose to feature their 50 Series guitars. We were lucky enough to be invited to a pick the pieces we wanted from the booth before the show opened thus saving this amazing piece of art for our customers. This is an example of what one of the finest guitar makers in the world can do with amazing tone woods and an impeccable build. This F-50 is built from master grade Ziricote back and sides. And she is paired with master grade Lutz Spruce for the top. This piece also comes with Lowdens inlay package #2 and has an amazing attention to detail oriented bindings and purfling that really elevates the beauty of this piece.
The 5 piece neck is a staple of Lowden design adding stability, sustain, and a color to their instruments that is truly their own. This piece also has the extended fretboard and the upgraded rosette of figured woods and abalone.
Tonally, this is an amazing feat of engineering. The sound is full, loud, and rich with overtones. There is an immediate responsiveness to every note strummed or plucked. The volume is great and there is no absence of power as well. The lush nature of its tone really comes out strongly from the Lutz. There overtones dance with the projections that the zizicote provides. This may be one of our favorite guitars to have come through the shop in quite awhile. Normally we find ourselves only arrpegiating and playing finger style with a Lowden but this one kept begging for strums as well. And not just gentle passing ones but aggressive and full strums.
This is truly one of those pieces that has to be heard to believe. We knew it was the hit of the show the second we put her in our hands. If you are looking for a dynamic instrument that can take you to different sonic possibilities than this really is one of the most magnificent pieces we have come across.
