PAHARGANJ: The MOST DANGEROUS place in Delhi? IN #paharganj #indianmarket #olddelhi #delhi #india #newdelhi
In this video, I explore Paharganj, preferably spelt 'Pahar Ganj', an infamous neighborhood in Delhi that lies to the west of New Delhi Railway Station.
Pharganj is an extensive area that serves as the dividing point between New Delhi and Old Delhi. This neighborhood is considered, by many, as an unsafe place, however, it is a bustling locality with a great number of shops, hotels, bars, restaurants, food stalls, fruit and vegetable vendors, etc. In fact, it is one of the most visited places in Delhi, by both foreign nationals and Indian tourists.
This place is easily accessible from any part of Delhi. However, understandably, being one of the busiest places in Delhi, it is crowded and the e-rickshaws, autorickshaws, motorbikes and pedal rickshaws throng the place and run zig-zag, not to mention the blaring honking(s) of vehicular horns. Despite its ill reputation, earned over many years for whatever reasons, it is not without its quaint charm. Having said that, it also has all the modern amenities in the form of hotels, shops, eateries, etc. needed by travelers/ tourists for either brief halts or/and prolonged stays. Above all, people here are very friendly and helpful.
The nearest metro station is the New Delhi Metro Station, which is an interchange of the Yellow Line and the Airport Express Line. (Information on how to exit the New Delhi Metro Station and get to Paharganj is provided in this video).
The Ramakrishna (R.K.) Ashram Marg Metro Station, on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro, is another metro station that is close to Paharganj Main Market. It is a 1.7 km distance (a 19 minute walking distance and a 9 minute travelling distance by car or an autorickshaw {tuktuk}).
Travel safe, stay safe and eat safe. Bon Voyage!
