Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the majority of research has focused on understanding the epidemiology, diagnostics and pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2. However, it is also important to understand the mental health consequences in populations such as older adults who are disproportionally affected by both COVID-19 and pandemic mitigation measures. Using longitudinal data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), this webinar highlights a forthcoming study examining the impact of the COVID-19 on the mental health of older adults during the initial lockdown and after re-opening following the first wave in Canada. The webinar explores the demographic, social and health-related factors that were associated with changes in the prevalence of depression in older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
