A United Nations aid convoy succeeded on Tuesday (17/10) in
reaching the government enclave of Gorazde in eastern Bosnia by a
direct route that Serbs had blocked in defiance of the ceasefire
accord. US envoy Richard Holbrooke met officials from the five-nation
international Contact Group trying to bring peace to Bosnia. Afterwards, Holbrooke described the discussion as "the most
substantive" in a long time. At the same time, Bosnian frontline
troops removed some weaponry from strategic positions on Mount
Treskavica, near Sarajevo. It was another encouraging sign that
ceasefire seems to be strengthening.
