Synopsis: NATO soldiers crunch over the gravel in the narrow buffer zone dividing Serbs, Muslims and Croats. Serbs claim Brcko unites their republic, while the Muslim-Croat Federation claims it as a gateway to Croatia and Europe. A Muslim area before the war, the town is now inhabited by a new Serbian population. A current housing boom aims to pack as many Serbs into the old Muslim neighbourhoods as possible. Muslims who dare to build on their side of the buffer zone suffer intimidation and bombing attacks. At great personal risk, a former officer from the Bosnian army visits the home he left before the war. As he crosses into Serbian controlled Brcko, he weeps with joy to see his home town again. A Serbian officer shows us his house - formerly owned by Muslims. He maintains that "the only way for there to be peace is for borders to be established". Lieutenant Colonel Cuculo of NATO confirms that, "Brcko is certainly a flashpoint". A disturbing report which reveals how Brcko threatens to undermine the Dayton Peace Accords.
