Czech press reporter Michal Kubal filmed a reportage with US soldiers. US Army squad was on patrol few miles way from their base. Czech reporter Michal Kubal was making reportage about their activity in that area. While they were returning to the base, Taliban ambushed them.
They regrouped and chose another way to return to the base. While moving around the wall, IED exploded in the front of formation (about 20 meters from reporter Kubal) and heavily wounded pointman (double amputee).
Squad had to return to the place, where they had first contact with enemy, because there was the only place, where Medevac could land. Again, they got under heavy fire. When Medevac arrived and started landing maneuver, Taliban focused most of the fire to the helicopter. So Medevac had to take off and wait, until US forces gain fire advantage.
Finally, air-support arrived too. When enemy was eliminated, Medevac landed and evacuated heavily wounded US soldier.
Unfortunately, it was too late and he succumbed to his injuries.
Later US military command found, that squad, when was returning to the base, faced enemy, who was heading to attack US base (it was several weeks planned Taliban attack on that base). Another hard day in A-stan.
