'It's Our Abbey' is a new book published in summer 2022 by The Furness Abbey Fellowship, written by Gill Jepson and Ron Creer and illustrated by Janet Pickering.

People from Barrow and Dalton-in-Furness in Cumbria often call this place 'our abbey.' We are proud of it being on our doorstep and we love its setting, its history, its red sandstone and the echoes of memories of all the people who have had reason to be here over the last 900 years. This book creatively tells the story of Furness Abbey from the point of view of these people; monks, masons, abbots, antiquarians, railway workers, poets, writers, industrialists, archaeologists, historians, Victorian visitors and through to the living memory of school visits, Mystery/Passion plays, volunteers and English Heritage staff.
