Development of Tissue Stress Theory: Root Theory vs Tissue Stress Theory, Lecture #6
Dr. Kirby details how the concepts of "Thinking Like An Engineer" that he published in a Precision Intricast Newsletter in March 1992 were improved with Tom McPoil and Gary Hunt's paper introducing their Tissue Stress Model in June 1995. Also discussed are the problems with the Root Theory that McPoil and Hunt discussed within their paper along with their approach to the Tissue Stress Theory.
Dr. Kirby further discusses the step-by-step approach in using the Tissue Stress Model in clinical practice and the Goals of Foot Orthosis therapy which were published in Eric Fuller and Dr. Kirby's book chapter, written in April 2005. In this chapter, which was published in 2013, Drs. Fuller and Kirby further elaborated on the history of foot orthosis theory and included a series of modelling approaches that can be used in Tissue Stress Theory.
